The Lowest Place in Jerusalem

Outside. Evening. Ben Yehuda Pedestrian Mall.

Beneath Nahalat Shiv’a’s cafés and colorful umbrellas lies a twisting web of underground arteries and capillaries. These are the channels into which stories of distress and despair but also of coping and struggle flow.

Come and discover the Jerusalem that lies below the surface on a tour that follows films and stories about the marginal youth, the Black Panthers, and a variety of figures from the city’s backyard. We will read poems by Shaul Tchernichovsky and Adi Keissar. We will go through locations where scenes from Someone to Run With, by David Grossman (directed by Oded Davidoff); Avi Nesher's film The Wonders; and the much talked-about drama series Valley of Tears (directed by Yaron Zilberman) were filmed.
