Featuring Emmanuel Moses, Eva Illouz, Halit Yeshurun and Dorit Shiloh
Host: Ilai Rowner
Musical Guest: Korin Allal
You are invited to an evening of wine, conversation and music to welcome French poet and author Emmanuel Moses to Mishkenot Sha'ananim as part of The Marie Residency Program for 2021. The evening will be dedicated to the personal, the literary, and the cultural "back-and-forth" between French and Hebrew; between Paris and Jerusalem.
Author Ilai Rowner, scholar and translator of French literature, whose prose is also influenced by French culture, will talk to writer and poet Emmanuel Moses, who has translated the works of S.Y. Agnon, David Grossman, Yehuda Amichai, T. Carmi, Meir Wieseltier and many others into French. Moses' work has been translated into Hebrew and published in the book "As Dark as Time". Joining them will be sociologist Prof. Eva Illouz, who was named one of France's leading intellectuals by French magazine Le Point, and publishes columns on culture, literature, politics and society in Israeli and French media; translator and editor Halit Yeshurun, whose translations allowed authors such as Beckett, Proust and Blanchot to find their voices in Hebrew; and author and translator Dorit Shiloh, whose time spent living in Paris is steeped in the stories from her debut novel, "After the Count".
The evening will be accompanied by singer-songwriter Korin Allal singing French songs translated by Ehud Manor for her album "Mother Tongue".
