Salah Alkara - Good Memories

Friday 16.12
11:00-12:30
Dwek Gallery, Mishkenot Cultural Center

Closing Event

Using oil paints and acrylics on canvases of assorted sizes, Salah Alkara paints his beloved land, where he was born, lived, and worked: the panorama of Mount Carmel. The exhibition focuses on small and medium-sized works on a white background with free sketches and minimalistic images of a tree, a cactus, and a house. Those represent pleasant memories of the places where the artist grew up, and which make up a central element in his creative work and have become recognized as his signature style.

The exhibition at Mishkenot Shaananim completes the “Non-Verbal Memoirs” that will be showing at the Um Al-Fahm Art Gallery, and is accompanied by an extensive catalogue. Both exhibitions, held concurrently, uncover the entirety of the artist’s work, and summarize more than five decades of prolific and diverse artistic creation.

On the occasion of the closing event of the exhibition, the artist Salah Alkara will talk with the curator Arie Berkowitz about the works in the exhibition and about his new book 'A Nonverbal Memory Book'
